Parents of children who will be five years old before Aug. 1 are invited to the school district's Kindergarten Information Night at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 in the auditorium at Steger Sixth Grade Center, 701 N. Rock Hill Rd. Kindergarten registration for fall 2010 will begin Feb. 16. Parents can enroll children at their home school office. To enroll, parents need to bring a birth certificate, proof of residency (occupancy permit, purchase or rental agreement or current utility bill) as well as health records showing state-required immunizations.
The district will offer Jump Start Kindergarten free of cost this summer for children who will be entering kindergarten in the fall who haven't had preschool experience. The program includes literacy and mathematics readiness activities and social development opportunities. Jump Start is held at the Webster Groves Early Years Family Center at Bristol Primary School, 222 W. Cedar Ave. If you'd like information about Jump Start, please call Julie Wuch at 963-6440.
