Hello everyone, and welcome to my webpage! I have been the school counselor at Steger for 18 years. Prior to working at Steger I was a clinical therapist and clinical sevices director at Epworth, a residential treatment center just up the street. My role at Steger is multi-faceted. I teach in each classroom once a month to work with students on "life lessons". You can see the topics that I cover by clicking "Counseling Lessons" on my home page. I meet with students individually and in small groups whenever needed. Students can request to see me on their own (I have a request slip folder hanging right outside my office door) or teachers and parents can refer kids to me. I work closely with the teachers to be aware of any students who may benefit from my support. I am available to meet with parents as well, and I also coordinate services with any outside agencies which may be providing support to our families, or can refer families to outside support agencies at any time if needed.
For the last 20 years I have worked with an organization called Empowering Young Women, which aims to help girls build awareness and strength in themselves. As a result of this work I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Uganda in the summer of 2012 to work with teachers and students in that part of the world. To read more about this experience, click on the Uganda link on my home page.
In addition to being a school counselor, I am a singer/songwriter who has a band, Salt of the Earth. I perform with my band regularly throughout the St. Louis area. I love having a musical role at Steger for our Music Friday performances. Ask your child about this legendary tradition! :-)
