Class FAQ

  • Contacting Me:
My e-mail address is  I check my e-mail before school, during lunch, and after school.  You can leave a message for me on my voicemail: 963-6425 ext. 15101 or with the office: 963-6425.   Your message will go directly to voicemail during school hours.  I always try to check my messages at the end of the day and get back to you within 24 hours.

    Take Home Folders:
Take Home folders go home every night and should be returned back to school every day. Please check the folders nightly for any important notes, and help your child to remember to bring the folder back to school each day. Papers from the classroom and the school office will be coming home.  I will be sending occasional homework home in kindergarten but it will not be weekly.  I will send out an e-mail when something goes home.

    Pin Numbers:
I am sending home your child’s lunch PIN number.  During the first few days of school I will be accompanying the children to the lunchroom to help them enter their PIN number when they purchase a school lunch.  Please help your child practice their number at home.  This helps with the line process and helps them through the lunch line quicker!

    Rainy/Snowy Dismissal:
If it is raining or snowing at dismissal time please feel free to pick up your child from the classroom so you won’t have to wait outside in the weather.

    Behavior Expectations:
My three main expectations for students are:

    1. Students will be kind to each other.
    2. Students will be safe.
    3. Students will try their best in all classroom activities.

Inappropriate behavior may result in the loss of recess time.  I will keep in close contact with you if behavior is a concern.  I always use positive reinforcement to encourage Avery All-Star Behavior!

Birthdays are a special time for all children.  If your child would like to celebrate his/her birthday at school here are some things to keep in mind:

    • Please let me know prior to your child’s birthday if you plan to bring treats so that I may make adjustments to our schedule. Store bought items are encouraged.
    • We have 17 children in the class.
    • I am happy to arrange a time to celebrate summer birthdays.
    • We have children with peanut allergies so please only store bought items and check labels.

    Avery Mail:
Avery Mail will be sent home every Wednesday. Backpack mail includes school newsletters and important notes from the office.  Please look through all of the information and make sure that your child returns the items in their daily take home folder on Monday.

    Class Parties:
We have three parties: Halloween, Winter Holiday, and Valentine’s Day.  Each party usually includes one or two games and a craft. Parental help is needed!  Please sign up on the sheets provided if you are interested in helping out.

    Conferences and Progress Reports:
Intake conferences will be August 27-29. This is a chance for you to share great information about your child.  Sign up times will be coming home soon. Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held in November.  I will be sending a note home a few weeks before conferences to schedule a time to meet with you.

Progress Reports are available three times a year.  The first progress report will be given to you during the November parent/teacher conference.  The second will be online for you to view in February and the third will be available on the last day of school.
