Mrs. Sarah McGrath
I have been teaching since 2003, and I've been at WGHS since 2006. My masters is in Gifted Education, and I teach both Gifted English classes as well as general sophomore and freshman English classes. In addition, I help coordinate the Gifted program at the high school, so please send any questions about it my way!
In all sincerity, I love teaching, and I love teaching in Webster Groves. We have a great district, and I'm privileged to be here. As many young people turn away from books to look at their phones, I believe it's more important than ever to instill at least an appreciation for if not a love of reading. To be a thinker, one must be a reader. My students know that my favorite type of literature is anything macabre, from Poe to Dante's Inferno, but I'll read the Little Prince a thousand times, too, and I'll cry at the end every time. I also believe grammar is vital to strong writing; everyone has ideas, but not everyone knows how to express them coherently. To that end, expect much grammar instruction in my class!
I look forward to the time I'll spend with my students this year.
