Currently, this is my 7th year teaching at Hixson Middle School as a Special School District Resource teacher.  For the 2018-2019 school year, I will be teaching a 7th-grade IEP Math, an 8th-grade Learning Strategies in Reading Comprehension, co-teaching an 8th grade ELA class with Ms. Camden and a 7th grade Math class with Ms. Slalughter and providing Essential Skills support.

    Students will be able to: 
    -solve problems using all operations with fractions. (CCS Math Content 7.NS.A.1, 7.NS.A.2)
    - use properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions and solve real-life problems. (CCS Math Content 7.EE.A.1, 7.EE.B.3)
    - draw, construct, and describe geometrical figures and describe the relationships between them. (CCS Math Content 7.G.A.2)
    -solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measure and area. (CCS Math COntent 7.G.B.4, 7.G.B.5) 

    A student will be able to:

    -infer while reading grade level text

    - summarize grade level text

    -judge if a word or phrase is important to the comprehension of text

    -recognize elements of a story such as a flashback, flash forward, and dialogue and how they are used to move the story along

    -determine important events to include in a summary

    -quote evidence from within text as support

    -accurately complete a plot diagram

    -identify author's message as it relates to the theme of text or script
