• I teach the following classes:

     

    Learning Strategies provides students an opportunity to receive additional tutoring and academic support on a daily basis. Students will be supported with regular class work, organizational skills, grade monitoring, and IEP goals. Classroom expectations include: arriving on time, bringing necessary materals to class each day, using class time wisely, and being respectful to others. 

    Fundamentals of English II- consists of instruction in writing skills, reading fiction and informational text, grammar, vocabulary, and research/development in World Literature. The majority of work will be done in class, though there might be an occasional time a student might have to finish something at home. Students will be expected to participate in class each day, behave in an appropriate manner, and complete the daily classwork that is assigned. 

    Fundamentals of English III- will continue to expand on writing, vocabulary, research, and speaking and listening. Through reading fiction, information text, drama, and poetry, the student will examine the changing nature of the American Dream and how it pervades American Literature. Key writing concepts include thorough knowledge of the writing process, organizational structure, and grammatical conventions. Students will write an argumentative essays as well as complete narrative and informative pieces. The majority of work will be done in class, though there might be an occasional time a student may have to finish something at home. Students will be expected to participate in class each day, behave in an appropriate manner, and complete the daily classwork that is assigned. 

    Fundamentals of English IV-This year-long course prepares students for college and other post-secondary opportunities. Students strengthen their critical thinking skills by exploring contemporary readings, composing formal papers, and practicing revisions and rewriting. Key texts for this class include college-level reading selections along with focused exercises in editing, refining sentence structure, and drafting coherent paragraphs and essays. Weekly vocabulary study involves learning Latin, Greek and French word parts with English derivations. The majority of work will be done during class, though there might be an occasional time a student may have to finish something at home. Students will be expected to participate in class each, behave in an appropriate manner, and complete the daily classwork that is assigned.
