Prop S updates

Ambrose Avery Bristol Clark Edgar Road Givens Hudson Hixson WGHS Thanks to community support of Prop S in 2023, we are addressing infrastructure, maintenance, accessibility and safety needs in the district. Over the next few years, schools will see improvements to windows, doors, boilers, HVAC units, security cameras and more. In addition, Knight Auditorium will undergo accessibility improvements and new lighting and audio systems.

1/25/2024 update

At its January 25 board of education meeting, Chief Financial/Operating Officer Pam Frazier and Construction Project Manager Rob Steuber provided an update on Prop S projects in the Webster Groves School District, including:
Boiler Replacement Package:- New boiler systems have been successfully installed and are operational at Clark, Edgar Road, and Hudson throughout the recent winter months.
- The testing and balancing of systems at Clark and Edgar Roads were successfully completed over the winter break.
Rooftop Replacement Package:
- Hudson Elementary is scheduled to receive new rooftop units over spring break. The project will conclude after the installation of system components, followed by testing and balancing.
- The replacement of end-of-life rooftop units at Givens, Ambrose, Central Office, and the Service Center is underway.
- Project design is in its final stages, with considerations for the ultimate budget currently under review.
Door Package:
- The contract for the door package for Clark, Edgar Road, Ambrose Family Center, and Givens Elementary was awarded in December.
- Frame preparation for Clark and Edgar was successfully completed over the winter break.
- The installation of doors at Clark and Edgar needs to be completed by April to meet grant requirements. Doors for Ambrose and Givens will be addressed over the summer break.
High School Auditorium Project:
- The Knight Auditorium package has opened for bidding.
- This project will focus on the complete replacement of rigging, audiovisual systems, lighting, and emergency life safety upgrades.
Hixson 2-Story Wing Window Package:
- The Hixson 2-Story Wing Window Replacement Package was awarded in December.
- A Window Demo/Abatement Package is currently under consideration by the Board at the BOE meeting scheduled for 1/25/24.
- The work is scheduled to begin immediately after the summer recess begins and will be completed by August 1.
Kopplin Field:
- The complete turf area preparation is finished and ready for turf installation.
- All utilities, including the scoreboard, have been completed.
- All fence poles have been installed, and fabric will be added after the turf installation is complete.
- Both bullpen and batting cages are complete.
- Turf material is ready for delivery, pending improved weather conditions.
Moss Field:
- Developments include the completion of the east property drive lane.
- Footings and foundations for various structures such as the press box, ADA access walkway, and stadium walls are complete or nearing completion.
- Playing field excavation has begun, along with the installation of the underground field drainage system.
- The masonry contractor has mobilized and will begin work with improved weather conditions.
- The MAWC water main extension is awaited at the North Drive and Colebrook intersection.
Frick Theater - Donor and District Funded:
- The exterior masonry of the Frick Theater is nearing completion.
- Interior finishes, including Terrazzo flooring, architectural wall panels, overhead drywall soffits, and interior bathroom wall tiles, are currently underway.
- Doorway and window openings have been prepared for the delivery and installation of wood-clad doors and windows.
- Ongoing electrical and low-voltage work will continue into February.

Webster Groves School District is dedicated to providing the best learning environment for our students. We're excited to share some important updates regarding the progress of Prop S, a vital initiative to improve our school facilities and safety measures.
1. Boilers: Heating and Redundancy
All boiler work has been successfully completed. This not only ensures better heating efficiency but also enhances the redundancy of our heating systems, guaranteeing a comfortable learning environment for all.
2. Rooftop Renovations
Bid packages for rooftop renovations at Ambrose, Givens, the Administration Building, and the Service Center are currently in their final stages. These renovations are set to provide structural improvements that will benefit our schools for years to come.
3. Door Replacements
We're taking action to enhance security and accessibility by approving the bid package for door replacements at Clark, Edgar, Givens, and Ambrose schools. A total of 165 doors are scheduled for replacement, ensuring a safer and more secure environment.
4. High School Auditorium Renovations
Over the summer, we plan for extensive work on the high school auditorium.
5. District-Wide Safety and Security Upgrades
Safety is a top priority. We are committed to upgrading district-wide safety and security systems, encompassing fire alarm and security alarm systems. This initiative will further safeguard our schools and the well-being of our students and staff.
6. Impact-Resistant Film
We're investing in safety measures by installing impact-resistant film throughout our schools. The majority of this film will be applied at Hixson, providing an added layer of protection for our students and buildings.
7. ADA-Compliant Sidewalk Access
Ensuring accessibility for all is essential. We're addressing ADA-compliant sidewalk access from the lower playground at Givens, with plans set for next summer.----------

Selma Field
Additional soil materials brought in and field laser graded
New grass "springs" added for improved playing surface

Installation tie-in and commissioning are ongoing over the next few months

Delivery and placement of new energy-efficient boilers in boiler rooms
Roof Top Unit Package
Currently in the design stage
Project to be completed in two phases due to the number of units needing replacement
Door/Window Package
Districtwide survey has been completed
Clark, Edgar Road, Givens, and Ambrose Family Center will address doors first
Design development is in process for Hixson's two-story classroom wing
Other school sites are also in the design process

Design meetings are complete
Work is anticipated to take place in the summer of 2024
