Startup Schedule

  • The Webster Groves School District Alternative Learning Plan will begin for students on Friday, March 27 and will continue through the end of the school year. 

    PARENTS
    March 20-26, 2020

    • Parents have been asked to disclose their need for technology and/or the Internet.

    • Parents are asked to preview the instructional plan that will be sent by the Central Office via email, text, phone call, Facebook, Twitter. 

    • Parents are asked to preview the instructions on how to use Google Classroom, Clever, and Zoom that will be sent out by Central Office via email, text, phone call, Facebook, Twitter.

    • Parents are asked to practice using Google Classroom with their child(ren) to ensure their understanding of its use. The deadline for families to practice and respond to Google Classroom will be by the end of day, Thursday, March 26th.

    • Parents are asked to utilize the resources they have or are provided in order to communicate with their child(ren)’s teacher using the methods outlined in the WGSD Alternative Learning Plan.

    March 27- April 22, 2020

    • Students and teachers will continue to practice using technology and new systems as we settle into our WGSD Alternative Learning Plan.

    • Staff will be available to offer students and teachers technical support. Contact information will be provided soon.

    • Ongoing instructional and technical support will be provided.



    STAFF
    March 19-23, 2020

    • WGSD’s technology, curriculum, assessment and professional development teams will finalize the first priorities of providing devices and/or hotspots to students.

    • WGSD’s technology, curriculum, assessment and professional development teams will finalize providing devices and/or hotspots to staff.

    • WGSD will send out basic Google Classroom Flipped Learning to all staff on Thursday, March 19th.

     

    March 23-25

    • WGSD will support teachers in creating a Google Classroom and how to populate their students into it if they do not have an existing account. Administrators will need to be added to their account.

    • Teachers with an existing Google Classroom will need to add their administrators to their account.

    • Teachers will add appropriate SSD staff/staff who support 504 accommodations to their Google Classrooms.

    • Teachers will add their SSD Area Coordinator to each classroom-Avery, Bristol, Clark, Edgar Road, and Hudson - Joy Yowell; Givens, Steger, and Hixson - Stephanie Berry; WGHS - Ellie Jacobs.

    • Teachers will invite the parents/guardians of their students to their Google Classroom.

    • Teachers will spend the days working through basic and differentiated Google Classroom and Zoom professional development, familiarize themselves with the WGSD Learning Plan, review materials provided by coordinators and colleagues, and plan with their team and/or principal. 

    March 26, 2020

    • Teachers will practice using Google Classroom for communicating all lessons/assignments to students.

    • Teachers will be working out the glitches and bumps that occur with online learning - please have patience with us all!

    • Teachers will be available to provide answers to questions and staff will be available to provide technical support.

    March 27- April 22, 2020

    • Students and teachers will continue to practice using technology and new systems as we settle into our WGSD Alternative Learning Plan.
