Dr. Jason Adams Chosen as Assistant Superintendent for Learning
Dr. Jason C. Adams has been hired as the Webster Groves School District’s assistant superintendent for learning, effective July 1. Dr. Adams is currently the principal at Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education as well as master’s and doctoral degrees in educational leadership and administration, all from Maryville University.
Superintendent John Simpson said, “From a pool of exceptional candidates, Dr. Adams emerged as the clear choice because of his vision for student learning and solid experience, which will align seamlessly with the work in progress in our district. We were seeking a curricular leader with a commitment and skillset to dismantle the inequitable structures and systems that live in classrooms, schools, and district—and Dr. Adams will certainly bring both as evidenced by his work in the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District and the St. Louis region.”
Dr. Adams has been principal in the Maplewood Richmond Heights District since 2012. Before that, he was an assistant principal in the Parkway School District and a teacher in the Kirkwood District. He is a certi ed Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity facilitator, a graduate of the Leadership Academy for Character Education and a former chair and board director for the local Educators for Social Justice. He also served as chairperson for the 2019 National Learning Forward Annual Conference in St. Louis.
Dr. Adams will succeed Dr. Kristin Denbow, who is retiring.
