2024-25 Webster Groves School District Board of Education Goals
Goal 1: Successfully Appoint a New Superintendent
- Hiring a superintendent is among the key responsibilities of the Board. During the 2024-25 school year, the Board will conduct a comprehensive search to find a new superintendent whose vision aligns with our district’s strategic plan and purpose.
- In order to hire the most successful candidate, the Board will: Establish a transparent selection process that includes key district stakeholders and a clear evaluation system
- Facilitate a smooth transition by creating a thorough onboarding plan
- Partner with the district’s communications department to provide consistent updates and information to all district stakeholders, including the community at large
Goal 2: Oversee implementation of the WGSD Strategic Plan 2023-26
- Ensuring high levels of learning and maintaining a focus on students is our Board’s mission. The Board of Education adopts policies and monitors data and trends in order to hold themselves, the superintendent, and district accountable for improved outcomes, particularly for those students with the most opportunity to grow.
- Adopt policies that demonstrate alignment with the 2023-6 Strategic Plan goals:
- Excellent Teaching and Learning
- Pathways to Self-Discovery
- Personal Health and Wellness
- Organizational Sustainability and Growth
- Monitor the results of these policies and adapt as needed to ensure progress toward strategic plan goals and objectives
- Adopt policies that demonstrate alignment with the 2023-6 Strategic Plan goals:
Goal 3: Advocate for Strong Public Schools
- The Board will emphasize the importance of strong public schools in our community.
- Discuss legislation and impacts of legislation at board meetings (allocated ~5 minutes)
- Actively participate in the Missouri School Boards' Association
- Take part in MSBA’s Advocacy Day in Jefferson City
Goal 4: Perform as a Highly-Effective Board Team
- The Board of Education, collectively and individually, will take responsibility for board activity and behavior.
- Pursue continuing education through the district, MSBA Region 7, and annual meetings
- Collaborate with the St. Louis School Boards Professional Learning Community
- Board members understand the importance of the board ultimately speaking with one clear voice and with students as a focus.
- Document our Board protocols
- Improve Board onboarding process
- Evaluate board committees and better define liaison roles
- Board Members will engage with the school district community to ensure strong relationships and accessibility, including the development of a community engagement plan.
