  • Monitor TV watching
  • Monitor internet use
  • Monitor music listening
  • Know where children are after school and weekends
  • Expect the truth about where children are going
  • Are very aware of academic performances
  • Impose curfews
  • Make clear they would be upset if children used marijuana
  • Eat dinner with children almost every night
  • Turn off the TV during meals
  • Have an adult present after school
  • Assign children regular chores
