- Monitor TV watching
- Monitor internet use

- Know where children are after school and weekends
- Expect the truth about where children are going
- Are very aware of academic performances
- Impose curfews
- Make clear they would be upset if children used marijuana
- Eat dinner with children almost every night
- Turn off the TV during meals
- Have an adult present after school
- Assign children regular chores
