The Hixson Middle School Summer Program is designed to be an enrichment experience that will focus on problem based learning. Class curriculum will be based in communication arts, reading, mathematics as well as enrichment classes. Programs like these can be an effective tool to reduce “summer loss” among students. All students can benefit from this learning experience designed to keep their minds and bodies active over the summer.

    Dates/Times
Current 6th and 7th graders can attend our summer program which will be offered for five weeks beginning June 1st ending July 7th, 2017. School will not be in session on the 3rd and 4th. Classes will be held at Hixson Middle School on Monday – Friday from 8:00 – 12:00 p.m. All summer school students register for the full day.

    Transportation
Transportation will be provided in the afternoon only. In the afternoon students will be dropped off at their neighborhood elementary schools and Steger.

Transportation to and from summer school will be provided for VTS students. The bus schedule will be available the last week of the 2012-13 school year.

    Tuition
Residents of the Webster Groves School District may enroll in any course free of charge. Students who are currently WGHS students under the Voluntary Interdistrict Transfer Program are considered Webster Groves District residents.

    Registration
Parents can register by going to the school district main page. Follow the menus to…
Need to know>Parents>Summer Learning Opportunities>Hixson Summer Learning Program>Summer Learning Registration Form, or by clicking here.

    Breakfast
Breakfast will be served in the cafeteria at 7:45. There is no lunch served at summer school.

    Expectations
The student handbook with some modifications will be followed at summer school. Please note that consequences for discipline issues may be increased due to the short length of summer school. Disciplinary infractions include withdrawal from summer school. If a student has more than three unexcused absences, this will be withdrawn from summer school.
