Degrees and Certifications:
Hello, my name is Marissa Capron and I love teaching art at Bristol! I graduated from UMSL with a BFA and began teaching at Bristol in 2007. I am a Kirkwood High alum (I know, try to not hold it against me) and have spent most of my life around this community. I have seen how supportive parents and teachers are of each other and believe that is one of the reasons why we are successful.
I decided to become a teacher because I have always felt that it was the only career for me. As a child I created mini art projects within my regular classroom assignments because I felt that it was the best way I could communicate what I had learned. I felt that art should always be a part of learning and made it my goal to one day foster that in my students. I of course love art for its beauty, but I believe that it can also be used as a tool to help students think creatively, problem-solve and communicate. For this reason, I think of every child as an artist - no matter their skill level.
