Alternative Methods of Instruction

Download the Choice Boards for your grade level here.

At times, weather or other emergencies may prevent us from holding classes in our buildings. To prepare for these situations, Webster Groves School District will use a combination of traditional snow days and Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) Days during the 2025–26 school year to keep learning on track.

AMI Procedures

What You Can Expect

  • Days 1–3: These will be traditional snow days. Students will not have school or assignments.

  • Days 4–10: If closures extend beyond three days, we will shift to AMI Days.

  • Emergency Closures: If school is closed for reasons other than weather (such as a water main break or power outage), those days will automatically be AMI Days.

What Families and Staff Need to Know

  • Pre K–5 Students: Students will receive a choice activities board handout to complete at home. Completion of the choice board will be used for attendance and should be turned in the next day we return to school. The choice board handout will be sent home with students on Friday, October 3 to keep at home until needed. It will also be available on our website.

    • Teachers will be available from 7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. during regular school hours via email, ParentSquare, and/or Brightwheel (Preschool). Zoom is also available as needed to provide clarification, guidance, and support to students.

  • Grades 6–12 Students: Students will access assignments on Canvas. These will consist of activities designed to take no more than 30 minutes per course and will focus on reviewing previously covered material. No new content will be introduced.

    • Teachers will be available during regular school hours (8:25 a.m. – 3:25 p.m.) via email, and Parent Square. Zoom is also available as needed to provide clarification, guidance, and support to students.

Additional Information

  • Staff Availability: Teachers and staff will be available by email or classroom platforms during regular school hours to answer questions and support students.

  • Communication: Families and staff will always be notified in advance if an AMI Day is being implemented so you know what to expect.

This plan helps us continue learning while balancing flexibility for families during both weather-related and emergency closures. Thank you for your support and partnership.
