Gifted Fine Arts Information

GFA Referrals for the 2024-2025 school year will be open June 3, 2024 through November 18, 2024 at 3:00pm. The online referral form can be found on the right side of the Gifted page.

GFA Evaluations will take place December 17-18, 2024. Students are assigned to a specific time and date on one of these days. Results for students that participated in the GFA evaluations will be mailed in May. GFA Referrals open every year on the first Monday in June. Referrals may be completed by any district faculty, a parent or students themselves. The referral deadline is necessary so the facilitators and adjudicators may properly prepare for the evaluation sessions. Students are not able to be referred after the deadline.

PROGRAM RATIONALE

The Gifted Fine Arts Program is a component of the Webster Groves Gifted Program that provides students beginning in third grade with enriched opportunities in music, visual arts, drama, and dance. Students come together as a community of artists to further develop an appreciation of the arts while advancing communication skills, critical thinking, problem solving, creative expression, and enhanced self-esteem. The Gifted Fine Arts Program builds a supportive community of artists on a solid educational foundation to enable gifted students with alternative learning styles and interests not to be left behind, but embraced and nurtured.

The mission of gifted education in the Webster Groves School District is to explore and develop the potential of gifted students by providing opportunities for students to receive education at appropriate levels. Flexible and innovative teaching and learning environments encourage exploration and experimentation beyond the traditional curriculum. The Webster Groves Gifted Programs are committed to developing, to the highest degree, each student’s potential.

The Webster Groves Gifted Programs are a part of the quality education offered to students and do not substitute or replace the excellent classroom instruction and enrichment already provided in the district.
