Algebra 1 in Manufacturing Processes, Entrepreneurship, and Design (AMPED)

AMPED integrates Algebra 1 content with hands-on, real-world projects to demonstrate the practical application of math in everyday life and business.

It is a two period blocked course: Algebra 1 and AMPED Entrepreneur. Students earn two graduation credits: one for mathematics and one as a Career & Technical Education (CTE) practical arts credit. Both are required for graduation.

AMPED engages students in entrepreneurial experiences where they apply Algebra 1 skills to operate and manage a student-run business. All objectives and standards delivered in a traditional Algebra 1 are taught through project-based lessons, labs, and activities that emphasize relevance and collaboration—ensuring learning is rigorous, meaningful, and connected.

Students will participate in fabrication labs, designing and producing customized textile products and manufacturing items made from wood, metal, and plastic.  Along the way, students gain hands-on experience with a variety of modern technologies and processes.

AMPED builds essential academic and technical skills while helping students discover the power of math in solving real-world problems.
