All scheduled PTO activities occurring during the school shutdown will also be cancelled to ensure the safety of all Clark families. Host families for any Auction Sign-Up Parties impacted by the shutdown will work to reschedule these events. The April 6th PTO Meeting is also cancelled.

    WGSD Latest Information Regarding COVID-19

For all the latest information from the District about school closures during the COVID-19 outbreak, please visit the WGSD Preparedness page on the District website.

    Meal Assistance

Starting this Monday, March 23, WGSD will provide breakfast and lunch service free for any child between the ages of 0 - 18 at Hudson Elementary School (9825 Hudson Ave, 63119). You do not have to live in the school district or be enrolled in the WGSD to receive a meal! All the details are on the WGSD Meal Assistance page.

Stay Connected to Everything Happening at Clark and the WGSD

There are many ways information is shared about Clark, the Clark PTO and the WGSD. If you haven't been receiving communications, it might be a good time to review your SchoolMessenger settings to ensure you get all the important information going forward. We put together this Clark Eagles - Stay Connected flyer to help ensure you know what's happening at Clark and in the District.

    Seesaw

If you or your kids are having trouble uploading stuff to Seesaw, please make sure you are using the Seesaw Class app, not the Seesaw Family app. Seesaw Family is used by parents to view/comment on their children's work, but the Seesaw Class app is required to allow kids to add new content such as videos, photos and journal entries. If you have any questions, please work with your child's teacher for assistance.

    Venmo

Friendly reminder that the Clark PTO has Venmo! In fact, Venmo is the preferred method for payments and reimbursements. You can send payments to @ClarkPTO or when requesting reimbursements, please provide your Venmo account with your request!

    Handwashing

An important message from Clark Nurse Meagan Lozano.

From the CDC: Handwashing is an easy, cheap and effective way to prevent the spread of germs and keep kids and adults healthy. When your family is healthy, you don’t have to worry about missing school, work or other activities. Parents and caretakers play an important role in teaching children to wash their hands. Handwashing can become a lifelong healthy habit if you start teaching it at an early age. Teach kids the five easy steps for handwashing — wet, get soap, scrub, rinse and dry — and the key times to wash hands, such as after using the bathroom or before eating. You can find ways to make it fun, like making up your own handwashing song or turning it into a game.

Young children learn by imitating the behaviors of adults in their lives. When you make handwashing part of your routine, you’re setting an example for your children to follow. See this flyer for more information.

I recommend viewing these short handwashing videos with your children as well to reinforce what they are learning here at school!

Reminder: No Left Turn out of school during carpool times

When exiting the Clark parking lot during carpool times (8:15-8:30a and 3:10-3:30p), please remember that Dr. Hays has asked that everyone please make a right turn onto Big Bend Blvd. We realize this may be inconvenient for some, but it creates unsafe driving conditions and backs up the carpool lane. Please make alternative plans if you need to go West on Big Bend. There are many opportunities to turn around safely that are much quicker than being in an accident trying to turn out of the school. We appreciate everyone's attention to this matter to ensure all kids and staff remain safe during these busy times. Thank You!

    Jet's Pizza Night - Tonight!

    Flu Reminder

    Dear Webster Groves families,

This month several of our schools have seen an increase in the number of flu-like illnesses. This note is a reminder of the symptoms, care and prevention of the “flu.”

People with the flu are most contagious in the first 3 to 4 days after their illness begins but may infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop. That means that you may be able to pass on the flu to someone else before you know you are sick, as well as while you are sick. We are asking that you keep your child home if they are sick until at least 24 hours after they no longer have a fever (100 degrees Fahrenheit or 38 degrees Celsius) or signs of a fever (have chills, feel very warm, have a flushed appearance, or are sweating). This should be determined without the use of fever-reducing medicines (any medicine that contains ibuprofen or acetaminophen). Along with fluids and rest, prescription antiviral medication can be used to treat flu illness. This treatment works best when started soon after flu illness begins. When treatment is started within 2 days of becoming sick with flu symptoms, this medication can lessen fever and flu symptoms, and shorten the duration of illness by about one day. The schools will continue to guard against the spread of the disease by keeping surfaces clean, encouraging proper hand hygiene and reminding students to “cover their coughs,” but your help in managing the spread of this infectious disease is greatly appreciated.
