One of the easiest ways to help prevent the spread of communicable diseases, such as COVID-19, RSV and Influenza, is with proper hand hygiene, especially in in the K-12 and ECE settings. Updated Head Lice Protocol from Nurse Meagan

Dear Webster Groves School District Families,

WGSD school nurses are committed to following best practices in school nursing and pediatric health care and we are consistently evaluating our health policies and protocols to provide your students with the best care. For this reason, we have evaluated and updated our head lice protocols.

We will no longer be sending home classroom notification letters when head lice is identified either by the school nurse or by a parent/guardian. Classroom screenings for lice will also be discontinued as the presence of head lice is not considered a medical or public health hazard. The discontinuation of these practices is based on current recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the National Association of School Nurses (NASN), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

WGSD school nurses are committed to working closely with families to address head lice while protecting your child's educational time! Please contact your school nurse if you need assistance or have any questions or concerns.
