Board of Education Honors National Merit Students

The Board of Education at its meeting Oct. 14 honored eight High School seniors who were named semifinalists and commended students in the National Merit Scholarship competition.

Matthew Curtis, Ella Kelly, Benjamin Miller and Emma Rohrs are semifinalists. They are among a pool of about 16,000 nationally and represent the top one percent of each state's high school seniors.  They have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit scholarships, which will be offered next spring.

Andrew Bacon, Ivy Clark, Finn Jeanmougin and Ethan Musial have been named commended students in the competition, among about 34,000 nationally receiving that honor and in the top three percent of each state's high school seniors.
