Announcing new procedures for donations to the district

If you want to support our students, teachers and staff in Webster, it's now easier than ever.

Want to make a gift to the WGSD? 

Donate to the WGSD Foundation, a 501c(3) non-profit organization that now serves as the primary private fundraising mechanism for the Webster Groves School District  This partnership allows the Foundation to be a “one-stop shop” for any WGSD donation, creating a more streamlined and customizable experience for the donor. 

We welcome gifts of any amount. Donations may be made online or by checks payable to: WGSD Foundation mailed to 400 E. Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves, MO  63119.

What is the Foundation?  Established more than 30 years ago with a mission to fund innovative teacher grants, the WGSD Foundation has expanded its impact to become WGSD’s primary private fundraising mechanism. The Foundation’s mission is to fund items that are outside of the District’s budget but are essential to ensuring WGSD delivers a rigorous, enriching education in facilities that meet students’ needs, now and for years to come

What will the Foundation fund? The Foundation now works with private donors to fund projects that support our district and schools. This will provide additional support to the District and streamline giving, ensuring gifts are used effectively and efficiently. 

But what if I want to donate to a specific cause?  You can! Our preferred donations are “unrestricted”, giving the Foundation and District  flexibility to direct funds where they are needed most, but you can designate that your donation be used exclusively for a specific program or cause such as fine arts, building improvements, or a capital campaign.  One exciting new option is the CARE Fund, which supports individual WGSD families in times of need. Some donation options are listed here or you can “write in” how to direct your funds. 

Alumni class gifts, planned gifts, endowments, and scholarships to benefit WGSD and students should be coordinated with WGSD Foundation.  If you need assistance deciding what you would like to fund or how to designate your gift, please contact Executive Director Maren Mellem Mellem at ExecDir@wgsdfoundation.org.

Does the Foundation replace the PTOs? No! Each school PTO will continue doing critical fundraising to fulfill their objectives. 

How can I know what my donation is funding?  The WGSD Foundation works closely with donors to ensure their wishes are known and fulfilled. Additionally, the Foundation shares updates via social channels (@WGSDFoundation), our website (WGSDFoundation.org), and joint communications with WGSD. We will also publish an annual report. Additionally, the best way to understand and help shape our work is to get involved!  We have volunteer and leadership opportunities open now.
