STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

 There will be a back to school celebration tonight (Friday, August 16), including activities fair at 6:00 in the auxiliary gym, pep rally at 6:30 in Roberts Gym and the Selma Street Dance at 7:00 (ends at 9:30) in front of school. This is for WGHS students only, NO outside guests. Students need their ID, pay at the gate – cost is $1.00, food will available at the dance including a snow cone truck and cookie dough truck. Join us for an evening of fun!!

 

Attention students interested in being a Camp Wyman counselor for this fall that picked up an application at registration; please turn that into the activities office as soon as possible. You can still stop by the activities office to pick up an application if you have not already.

 

WGHS A Cappella (A-Ladies and A-Men) will have informational meetings next Monday (August 20) after school at 2:45 and next Tuesday (August 21) before school at 7:15 in room 321.  Anyone considering auditioning MUST attend one of those two meetings.  If you have any singing interest or experience, please consider attending to find out more about the group and the audition process.

 

All students interested in participating in WGHS Step Team are welcomed to attend an informational Tuesday, August 20 at 2:45pm in RM 252. All students interested are required to attend in order to receive their STEP TEAM PACKET. If you attended the first informational in the spring, you do not need to attend this informational.  If you have any questions or unable to attend, please see Ms. Jordan in RM 252.

 

Auditions are being held for a new performing ensemble, the Statesmen Symphony!  We need talented string players, wind players and percussionists for this group.  Please see Mrs. Young or Mr. Pulliam to get audition music and to sign up for an audition time.  Auditions will be held the August 26th - August 29th before and after school.

 

Inter-State Studio will be here on Wednesday, September 4 to take pictures of any students or staff members that have NOT had a picture taken yet. Seniors only will be from 7:30-11:30 and freshmen, sophomores, juniors and staff from 11:30-3:30. We will call out students via the intercom alphabetically.

- Art Club will have their first meeting of the year on Tuesday, August 20 after school in room 190. 

 

WEDNESDAY

 Tri-M Music Honor Society will have a meeting on Wed. Aug. 21 before school in the Choir Room.  There will also be a new member breakfast before school on Thurs., Aug. 29th starting at 7:15 am in the Choir Room.  All band, choir and orchestra students are welcome to attend.

- Amnesty International will have their first meeting on wed. at 730 a.m. in 272.  Any student interested in human rights are welcome to attend.

  - Interested in photography? Come to Yearbook Photography Club’s interest meeting Thursday the 22nd in 334E. Beginners are welcome. See Keane or Reiss with questions.

Student sport passes are available in the activities office for $40.00, the pass includes admission to all regular season home games and a t-shirt!!

 

For all students interesting in wrestling this year, there will be an informational meeting Friday morning at 7:30 in Room 297.  If you are not able to make the meeting please come by coach Lemay’s room 297 for information and an off-season calendar and workout schedule.
