Two students receive National Merit honors

National merit semifinalists

9/20/22 - Webster Groves High School seniors Nora Jennings and Eric Miranda were recently named semifinalists in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Nora and Eric will continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships. 

High school juniors entered the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT. The nationwide pool of semifinalists represents less than 1% of U. S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

Approximately 16,000 students nationwide were selected as semifinalists, and 95% will go on to become finalists. These seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $28 million that will be offered next spring.

In addition, six students were named Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program. They are: Jacob Assouad, Colin Bischoff, Dominic Lee, Ian McCann, Spencer O'Brien, and Tom Winterton for being named Commended

Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the competition by taking the 2021 PSAT.
