February 20, 2019
This week, third and fourth graders are finishing up our unit on Bullying. Third graders are continuing to talk and discuss the difference between joking around that is Fun and joking around that is Hurtful. We have discussed how we should stay away from joking about topics such as how a person looks or dresses, as well as personal things about others, such as religion. When we joke around in a fun way, that doesn’t make someone feel like a joke, everyone can have fun and enjoy their time together.
Fourth graders are learning the differences between four different types of bullying that occurs: cyber, emotional, verbal and physical. Ask them to tell you what each of them means!
For the next two weeks, Second grade students will discuss the idea of “Trouble Talk”. This means not spreading gossip or rumors and being really careful about what we say about others.
It’s hard to believe, but counseling lessons with Mrs. Luesse will finish the last week of March, due to MAP testing season starting soon after. Presenters from NCADA will be visiting every grade level for four weeks to help supplement and reinforce our counseling lesson topics. They will start with 3rd grade, starting next week. Kindergarten, First, Second, Fourth and Fifth grades, will have their NCADA lessons in April. More on those topics to come!

A Note from the ER Music Room
SAVE THE DATE!
2nd and 3rd graders will be presenting their music program at Edgar Road on March 13th! A performance for the school will be held at 2pm and evening performances will be as follows: 2nd grade at 6pm and 3rd grade at 7pm.
A Note from WINGS and Project Plus
The WINGS and Project Plus students from Mrs. Pott’s class studied the Global Goals for Sustainable Development created by the United Nations. The Goals want to help make the world a better place. Some of the goals include Life on Land, Life Below Water, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Climate Action, No Poverty, Health and Wellbeing, and more. We want to support the World Wildlife Fund because 84% of the funds raised goes towards their program, and because of their mission which is “to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth.” Their mission helps with many of the Global Goals that were important to us, particularly ones related to the environment. You can help us support the World Wildlife Fund by participating in our Spirit Week, February 25-March 1. Each day there will be something that you can wear or bring in for $1 a day. That money will go towards the World Wildlife Fund. On Monday, we will have hat day. Tuesday is bring a stuffed animal day. Wednesday is Wacky Wednesday. Thursday is Jersey/sports day. Friday is pajama day. If you would like to donate additional money, you can donate on our WWF donation page.
