Welcome to The Paw Print! Here is what’s happening at Edgar Road:

From The Secretary
The last day of school is on Friday, May 24th! We will be dismissing at 11:45

Thank you to everyone who came to our Grandparents/ VIP Day! We had a wonderful turnout and all of the staff and families had a great time!

Our Volunteer Breakfast is TOMORROW, Thursday, May 16th at 7:30 AM in the library. This is just a small token of our appreciation for everything our volunteers do for our school! Just a reminder that there will be babysitting.

Field Day is on Friday, May 17th.
This is a very exciting, fun-filled day for everyone.
The morning session will be from 8:45-11:00 for 3rd-5th grade.
The afternoon session will be from 12:45-3:00 for Kindergarten-2nd grade.
If you’d like to volunteer please contact Mr. Jordan at

The Spring Book Fair will take place until Friday, May 17th.
The hours for the book fair the rest of the week are:
Thursday, May 16th - 8:10 am - 3:30 pm
Friday, May 17th - 8:10 am - 1:00 pm

Please come look at the lost and found tables before the last day of school. Any items left will be donated.

There are some tupperware and serving dishes in the office from the staff appreciation breakfast on Friday if anyone is looking for theirs.

Moving Up Day is on Tuesday, May 21st starting at 1:15 PM. We will be starting on the South Playground. Don’t forget to bring a blanket or chair to sit on. Following the ceremony students will go to their next year’s classroom for a brief visit with their new teacher and classmates. Parents are welcome to join but please keep in mind that this time is geared towards the teacher getting to know the students. There will be a 5th grade celebration following the ceremony while the other grades visit their new classrooms. Envelopes with the new teacher welcome letter will be sent home this Friday.

Thursday, May 23rd, the nurse will send home medications, EPI-PENS, and all inhalers that your child may have at school. Please make sure and check your child’s back pack for medication sent home. It will be put in a brown paper bag with their name on it. If you prefer to pick up their medicine or if your child won’t be here on the last day of school, please let me know at 314-918-4502. We cannot be responsible for any medicine left at school over the summer. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Have an enjoyable and safe summer!

Webster Reads Summer 2019
Research proves that students who read over the summer maintain or even improve their reading skills. In fact, students in grades three and up who read four or five books over the summer can prevent summer reading loss! Talking and writing about books is also highly beneficial. To access book lists, please visit the Webster Groves School District website at

To earn a free book, please read the number of books listed for your grade level. These books should be at an appropriate level for you. If you read more, that’s great! Just use another sheet of paper, or download another copy on the Webster Groves School District website at

From the Counselor
This week we are finishing up NWEA testing. Individual students and groups will have one final check in next week before the last day of school. During the week of May 20-24, I will be seeing students on an as needed basis.

Playdates for Incoming Kindergarten Students:
Starting in June, I will be hosting kindergarten playdates for incoming kindergarten students. These playdates will be from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. on the South Playground on June 13th, June, 27th, July 11th and July 30th. We will be sending out phone blasts and emails to remind families. Come if you can!

Summer Safety:
This is a good time to remind ourselves about Summer Safety! Don’t forget to check helmets and bicycles for repair, as well as make sure sunscreen isn’t expired. Also, older students can always use a reminder about rules for answering the phone and door if parents aren’t home, as well as knowing their addresses and parent phone numbers.
