Welcome to The Paw Print! Here is what’s happening at Edgar Road:

From The Secretary
There is NO SCHOOL this Friday, August 30th or Monday, September 2nd.

Arrival and Dismissal: There are just a couple of arrival reminders. The new lane closest to the flagpole is a parking lane in the morning as well as the first half of the lane closest to the school. When you park, please pull up as far as possible to allow more cars to pull in behind you. The drop off lane in the morning is the second half of the lane closest to the school. Dismissal is getting better every day. Reminders: there is no stopping on Edgar Road and no left turns in our out of the drive from 2:30-3:30. As always, continue to pull forward as cars move and we will get your child to you.

The Eye See Me book fair ends tomorrow. We are excited to partner with the EyeSeeMe African American Children's Bookstore in providing the very best books available on the market today that highlight positive, self-reflective, images of a variety of cultures. The Eye See Me book fair is also available online. Please use the code EdgarRoadBookFair so we will get credit for your purchase.

Use it at checkout at Please see below for some teacher wish lists.

PTO News
The Edgar Road PTO needs your time and talents to make many of our special events at ERS a reality. No matter how much time you have to offer - there is a job for you! Many volunteer needs are a "one time thing" and do not require attending meetings or more than an hour or two of your time this year. The second link will direct you to Sign Up Genius where you can virtually sign up for the volunteer opportunity that is right for you. A big thank you to all of our volunteers who have already helped out thus far this year!!/showSignUp/4090c4aa9aa23a4f94-ptoparent
Questions on how to get involved or what a volunteer position involves? Contact:

Please mark your calendars for our first PTO meeting, Thursday, September 5th at 6:30pm. Babysitting will be provided. We do our very best to keep our meetings to one hour. See you there!

We hope all of the new families to Edgar Road enjoyed the welcome to Edgar Road yard signs. If you received one of these signs, please return them to the school office so they can be used again next year. We appreciate all of the volunteers who helped welcome our new families.

From the Counselor
We are well into the first weeks back and I am so impressed with our Edgar Road students. They have been doing amazing!
Next week, Kindergarten, First grade and Mrs. McClure’s classes will have their first counseling lessons for the year. We will be learning/reviewing the Zones of Regulation, which is a great visual to help kids talk about their feelings! You can see the visual below to understand what your students are talking about when they say “Zones”.

This is a good visual to leave up in your house or a child’s bedroom. Sometimes, kids can’t name a feeling, but they can easily say, “I’m in the blue zone”. This can help you narrow down the feeling and then help your child problem solve what to do.
If you are having trouble with separation between you and your child this year, the link below has some great strategies for families:

This year, I will be having Open Office Times from 8:10 - 8:45 a.m. If you would like to drop by and talk with me, just let me know! An email usually helps me know to look out for you. If you need to get a hold of me my email is and my phone number is 314-918-4503.

Also, the Eye See Me book fair will be held in the library during jump start conferences, and it would be helpful to let parents know about it in the Paw Print as well. Dates and times are: Monday 8/26, 3:30- 6:30pm, and Wednesday 8/28, 3:30- 7pm. We are still looking for a few parents to help out, if anyone is interested in volunteering, please contact me at

District News
Did you know that the Webster Groves School District Foundation gave over $36,000 in grants to district teachers last school year? These grants have helped bring innovative projects and teaching to your child's school! The Foundation is always looking for volunteers to help with fundraising events (Webster on Wheels, Run for Webster and more). If you have time to give or want to learn more about the Foundation please email

Cafe News
If you have money to put in your child’s lunch account, please send it with your child or drop it off to Linda in the cafeteria. Cash or check is accepted. Please make sure your child’s name is included on the check or on a note with the cash. You can also add money to your child’s lunch account using the online parent portal, but please be aware that there is a small fee associated with it.

How Can I Support ERS Students?
As you can imagine, teachers are always looking for new ways to support student learning. Donors Choose is one of the new ways we are purchasing materials for the classrooms that extend beyond the school budget or mini-grants. The mission of Donors Choose is to “make it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need, moving us closer to a nation where students in every community have the tools and experiences they need for a great education.” Here is how it works:

You find a project:
Find a classroom project that inspires you and give as little as $1. We're a public charity, so your donation is tax-deductible.
Donors Choose fulfills the order:
When a project is fully funded, we purchase all the requested items and ship them directly to the school.
Teachers thank you:
Every donor gets a thank-you letter from the teacher, photos from the classroom, and a report of how each dollar was spent.
Edgar Road staff currently have the following projects to support if you “choose”:

I want to make sure my students have the materials and experiences they need to succeed, so I just created a request for my classroom at

Creation Station.

If you chip in to help my students, you'll get awesome photos and our heartfelt thanks.

Thanks so much,

P.S. If you know anyone who may want to help my classroom, please pass this along!
