Playground Committee Update
Greetings from the Playground Committee and wishing everyone a very Happy Holiday Season. The Playground Committee has been hard at work this past taking the first steps in our process.
We have partnered with renown inclusivity innovators Unlimited Play on our playground project. If you aren't familiar with Unlimited Play a link to their website is at the bottom of the message. You may be surprised that you have been to their past projects and not even realize it. We are excited that they are part of this project and look forward to their knowledge and resources as we move towards the design process. This coming January Unlimited Play will meet with the children and discuss what an all inclusive playground is and have them complete a survey to finalize their feedback portion of the design process. Parental feedback will come a short time later thru design displays and PTO meetings.
Also this fall, we approached the city of Rock Hill about partnering with the school district. Overwhelmingly they believed in our project and agreed to join us on this journey. In the next coming weeks we will be discussing mutual concerns between the city and district, and budgets. Partnering with the city creates a wonderful sense of community pride, as well as being very advantageous for the committee as it aids in qualification for the state funded municipal park grant and other funding sources.
As far as events go, we are working towards a fun spring time fundraiser so be on the look out for a save the date! Also moving into the new year please check Lisa's Friday weekly update for the playground committee notes section. The PTO web page also has a playground tab that has meeting notes and meeting minutes. Once our design process is complete we will have a tab on the Unlimited Play web page as well. So be sure to check back often for new info! Our next meeting is January 23rd at 6:30 in the loft at the school.
The Committee is always looking for feedback and volunteers to come along on the this great journey towards a new play space that allows the values that are taught in the classroom can translate to an outdoor space where play for all can be unlimited. If you would like to join our committee, or any suggestions or questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
Many thanks to all of those who have worked on the committee this fall, and to all of you for supporting this project. We could not have been successful and made strides this year without your participation.
