New Fourth Grade Teacher
As many of you may know, Mr. Havrilka will be retiring from the WGSD at the end of this year. Last week Grant Bearden was hired as our new fourth grade teacher. Grant comes to us from the Maplewood-Richmond Heights School District and has many years of experience in the teaching field. He will be an excellent addition to our Hudson team and we are looking forward to welcoming him.
22-23 Placements and Fly Up Day
This year we will be holding our Fly Up Day on Monday, May 23rd. In previous years, students have visited both classrooms without knowing who their teacher would be for the new upcoming school year. This year we have decided to send home class placement letters on Friday, May 20th so that students will be able to visit with their specific teachers for the 22-23 school year. Look for those to come home in backpacks.
!!!Spring Picnic Update!!!!
The Hudson Spring Picnic and Raffle is next Friday May 13th! This is a great event hosted by the PTO to bring families together and have some fun outside. You can purchase a Chick-fil-A meal on the PTO square site (link here) or bring your own picnic. Food orders need to be in by 5:00 on Tuesday May 9th (orders can’t be taken at the event).
Raffle tickets for items at the picnic can also be purchased in advance on the square site (recommended) or at the picnic. See the attached flyer for the awesome prizes available! You must be present at the picnic to win raffle prizes or send a representative to allocate your tickets to your interested prizes and take your winnings home. If you purchase raffle tickets in advance they will be ready for pick-up at the raffle table at the picnic.
We also still need a few more volunteers to make this a great event! Please sign up by May 12th via this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090A45A8A82AA0FF2-hudson.
District-wide Late-Starts in 2022-23
Beginning in the 22-23 school year, the Webster Groves School District has added late start days to the school calendar.
Late start days will allow for additional time for our teachers to use data and collaboratively plan to continue to address the needs of all of our students. Families who need help with student supervision on late start days can participate in a program available at each building (K-12). The times for the late start supervision program are included below:
Elementary Schools (K-5): Avery, Bristol, Clark, Edgar Road, Givens, and Hudson
Late Start Supervision Program: 7:40am-8:50am
School Day Arrival Begins @ 8:50am
School begins @ 9:05am
Hixson Middle School and Webster Groves High School
Late Start Supervision Program: 8:15am - 9:25am
School Day Arrival Begins @ 9:25am
School begins @ 9:40am
WGSD staff will manage the Late Start Supervision Program, including instructional aides and substitute teachers. Families who participate in the morning Adventure Club Program will automatically be enrolled in the Late Start Supervision Program for your building.
Registration in the Late Start Supervision Program will be for the entire school year (all late start days), so that we can appropriately plan for staffing for the 22-23 year. To register for the Late Start Supervision Program, families can log into the parent portal and follow the registration prompts. Registration will open on Wednesday, May 4 and continue through June 30. Families who enroll after June 30 will work with their schools to make a determination about Late Start Supervision for their family.
