Project Plus Video Link

Sparks Within

The link above is for a collaboration project our 4th and 5th grade Project Plus students have been working on at Hudson and Clark.  This is a show that was put together by the students in the hopes of creating something that would entertain and engage students and their families while also covering many of the standards for Project Plus.  Enjoy!

10,000 Pencils

If you have $1, would you purchase school supplies, or shoes for your child to be able to walk to school? This is a dilemma that many parents face in developing countries. By sending unused and gently-used school supplies to schools in these countries, the children are able to get both shoes which their parents then purchase, as well as the school supplies from the donor families and school in St Louis.

10 000 Pencils is a volunteer-run and led 501 (c)3 which aims to assist underprivileged children both in the US as well as internationally with school supplies. In the past 5 years, the organization has been able to send supplies to Zambia, Malawi, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Brazil, and in St Louis we have partnered with Ritenour School District, St Louis Public School District, YWCA Head Start program and the Urban League Headstart program.

Our program collects the following school supplies: pens, pencils, markers, color pencils, notebooks and writing paper, crayons, reading books, scissors, glue and erasers. This will begin on May 13th and end on May 26th.

With the school supplies we collected in 2021 from 6 schools, we have been able to assist 2,000 learners in Malawi which is our focus country currently.

We appreciate your support!

Senior Car Parade

Come celebrate the Class of 2022 for the first Senior Car Parade! The parade will be held on May 21, 2022 at 10am. The Seniors will decorate their cars and parade down Lockwood Ave between Rockhill St and Gore St. Grab some breakfast or a coffee from one of our restaurants while you line the street to help celebrate the Class of 2022!

Hudstock Note:

Parents are welcome to attend this event.  Please see the link below for more details:

22-23 Placements and Fly Up Day

This year we will be holding our Fly Up Day on Monday, May 23rd.  In previous years, students have visited both classrooms without knowing who their teacher would be for the new upcoming school year.  This year we have decided to send home class placement letters on Friday, May 20th so that students will be able to visit with their specific teachers for the 22-23 school year.  Look for those to come home in backpacks.

District-wide Late-Starts in 2022-23

Beginning in the 22-23 school year, the Webster Groves School District has added late start days to the school calendar.

Late start days will allow for additional time for our teachers to use data and collaboratively plan to continue to address the needs of all of our students. Families who need help with student supervision on late start days can participate in a program available at each building (K-12). The times for the late start supervision program are included below:

Elementary Schools (K-5): Avery, Bristol, Clark, Edgar Road, Givens, and Hudson

Late Start Supervision Program: 7:40am-8:50am

School Day Arrival Begins @ 8:50am

School begins @ 9:05am

Hixson Middle School and Webster Groves High School

Late Start Supervision Program: 8:15am - 9:25am

School Day Arrival Begins @ 9:25am

School begins @ 9:40am

WGSD staff will manage the Late Start Supervision Program, including instructional aides and substitute teachers. Families who participate in the morning Adventure Club Program will automatically be enrolled in the Late Start Supervision Program for your building.

Registration in the Late Start Supervision Program will be for the entire school year (all late start days), so that we can appropriately plan for staffing for the 22-23 year. To register for the Late Start Supervision Program, families can log into the parent portal and follow the registration prompts. Registration will open on Wednesday, May 4 and continue through June 30. Families who enroll after June 30 will work with their schools to make a determination about Late Start Supervision for their family.

Please click here to go to the Parent Portal for registration

Take care,
