Notes from the Counselor

Notes from the Counselor

After many years...Mix It Up! will return Monday, September 26th. Hudson will celebrate Mix It Up Day during lunch shifts. Students will mix it up by sitting with different people at lunch and getting to know someone new. We will also recognize Mix It Up Day by wearing mixed up clothing! Mix It Up Day is a national campaign launched by Learning for Justice over a decade ago. Mix It Up at Lunch Day encourages students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch. It’s a simple act with profound implications. When students interact with those who are different from them, biases and misperceptions can fall away. Please contact Claire Diemler at diemler.claire@wgmail.org with any questions.

Hudson Buzz Book

The Hudson Buzz Book is now live in our new Membership Toolkit app!

Register at this link and then download the "Membership Toolkit" app to your phone and login to have the searchable directory on your phone.

This is a new app this year for us, so let us now what you think! Hixson uses this for their buzz book, so we thought we'd give it a try for Hudson this year and see how parents like it.

Save the Date

Hudson does a Halloween parade each year where all of the kids come to school with their costume on the day of the Halloween party. Right before the party, the classes all parade through the back parking lot where the parents line up to cheer them on. This happens around 1:45pm on the day of the parties which is on Halloween itself this year.

The kids have always enjoyed it and it's something that if you can make it happen with work and life schedules, is a great and fun event to attend. It doesn't take too long...they go through the parade and then back to their classes for the party, which you can attend to help at or donate items for (class parents will be in touch about that as party date gets closer), or you can head straight back to your car and return to your regularly scheduled activities. I'd say it takes 15 minutes tops. Just an FYI esp. for parents who need to ask off for work to be able to attend!

Save the Date: Hudson Fall Festival

Hudson's Fall Festival will happen this year at Royal Oak Park in Warson Woods on Friday, October 14th from 6-10pm. More details will follow. For now, just save the date!
