Cinco de Mayo Parking Fundraiser Signup!

This year Cinco de Mayo falls on a Hudson early dismissal day — and a Friday (May 5th).

Sign up multiple members of your household to help — kids are strongly encouraged to participate! When kids are present, we tend to generate more — and larger — donations.

This event is always festive and fun — especially when it falls on a Friday. Hacienda hosts one of the most popular Cinco de Mayo parties in the area, and their parking lot fills up quickly. The closest overflow parking lot available to Hacienda revelers is the lot across Manchester (where SSM Health and Olympia are). We manage that lot and the Hudson parking lot throughout the day/evening — collecting donations from each Hacienda patron that uses those lots.

Taxes-shmaxes! Join the Spring Spruce Up Instead!

The Hudson PTO Beautification committee invites you and yours to come help clean up the campus on Saturday, April 15 - 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m.! We will clear leaves from the bridge rain garden, weed the beds, remove old growth and pitch litter. It really is fun for the whole family!

Please join us at any time you are available — we'll be there until noon and it is easy to pop in for a few minutes to pitch in.

Please bring gloves, rakes, hedge trimmers, clippers and weed pullers of all kinds.

From Mr. Reichold:

Our annual talent show will be held Friday, May 19th at 12:30 p.m. I am asking each student that signs up to show me their prepared talent so I can help them have the strongest performance possible. If they would like to sign up, please sign up HERE

Because there are so many strong acts, Hudson Faculty and Staff put a twist on the yearly talent show. Our talent show is a talent festival, “Hudstock." At Hudson we are advocates of democratic learning which supports students having a voice in their learning. At “Hudstock” the students will choose one of three acts they would like to go see every 5 minutes or so. There will be multiple stages throughout the Hudson campus being used. Our K-2 students will be paired with their 3-5 buddies throughout the fest learning how to read a schedule, spend their “ticket money” wisely on popcorn, snow cones, or drinks as well as creating a family bonding atmosphere. This will be a great learning opportunity for the students and will help them develop as an independent learner. Please talk to your child about Talent Fest sign ups if they haven’t talked to you already. Students will soon be making posters promoting their act in the talent show. I’m allowing students until Monday, May 2nd to sign up. This will allow me to see each act and help them succeed in front of their peers.

We are asking families to donate boxes of Capri Suns, Unfrozen Popsicles or Big Bags of Movie Popcorn (found at Dierbergs.) If you have any questions or concerns please call or email me.

Thanks,

Des Reichold

Last Day of School Fun

Last Day of School - Kona Ice Truck Hudson Fun!
Join other Hudson Families on Friday, May 26th for a gathering with the Kona Ice Truck at Warson Woods Royal Oak Park when school lets out at 11:45am on the last day of school! The Kona Truck is reserved just for us so we'll be able to quickly get through the line to purchase a treat and the kids can start playing! We will gather there starting at 11:45am until whenever.

Bonfire on the Last Day of School!
We have also reserved Royal Oak Park that evening for a bonfire so Hudson families can casually gather with a picnic dinner or after dinner for a bonfire, smores, and a chance to hangout. Very casual. We'd love to have you join us anytime from 6:30-9:30pm! Bring lawn chairs and BYOB.

This is your chance to get involved and meet other Hudson Parents!

The interest and nomination form for next year's Hudson PTO Board is now open! We welcome self-nominations or we encourage you to nominate someone who you think would be great. Most of our executive board members have already served for two years, so we have many open roles and we welcome new parents to get involved!

Nominations will close on April 22nd.

New Facebook Group for Parents of Next Year's Hudson Kindergarten Class: We have a new parents Facebook group created for students entering kindergarten at Hudson this August.

If you have a student entering next year, please join the group here or send the link to neighbors/friends who you know should be in the group: www.facebook.com/groups/hudsonclassof2029/

Staff Appreciation

Please help us treat our Hudson staff throughout the year by keeping the teacher's lounge stocked with snacks at the end of each month. In an effort to streamline this process, we have created a Target Registry in which items can be delivered directly to school. https://www.target.com/gift-registry/gift/hudson-elementary-pto. Items are updated monthly. If you like, you can also choose to purchase a gift card through the registry. Your gift card donation will go towards Hudson Staff Appreciation. Please email rebeccayust@gmail.com or aroedemeier@outlook.com so we can keep track of gift card purchases. Thank you so much for supporting Hudson staff.

Hudson Buzz Book

The Hudson Buzz Book is now live in our new Membership Toolkit app!

https://hudsonpto.membershiptoolkit.com

Register at this link and then download the "Membership Toolkit" app to your phone and login to have the searchable directory on your phone.

This is a new app this year for us, so let us now what you think! Hixson uses this for their buzz book, so we thought we'd give it a try for Hudson this year and see how parents like it.
