100 Neediest Cases High School Art Competition contest winners: Congratulations to…….

1st PLACE: Katka Trachtova, 17th PLACE: Sarah Morganthaler, 25th PLACE: Joi Johnson. The top 40 illustrations are printed in the Post-Dispatch and the first, second and third places win a gift card. Their work will be on display at the History Museum in Forest Park from Nov. 20th -30th.

 

Attention Juniors!  We will be decorating for Turkey Day in room 217 after school on Friday until 5:00 pm.  Pizza will be provided!

 

Next week Mrs. Pott's Contemporary Lit classes are collecting book donations for a local non-profit organization. Donate Children's and Young Adult books to the boxes in English classes all next week!

 

The NHS fall blood drive is next week, Tuesday, November 13th.  Students that are 17 years old can sign up to donate, and students that are 16 can sign up with a parent permission slip.  Sign up using the URL or QR code on the posters in the cafeteria, the senior entrance, and in the hallways.  All juniors and seniors were emailed the sign link this morning, so check your Google email.  All donors get a free t-shirt, a snack, and the whole process takes about an hour. 

Ask a NHS member for more details or if you need help signing up.  Please sign up asap, as spots are limited. 

 

The Caverns: Do you do art? Are you interested in donating to charity? Are you interested in being part of a business? If yes, come to an informational meeting from 2:40 – 3:40 in the Makerspace room on Friday, November 9th.

 

Are you interested in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or management? Come to the Eat.Listen.Learn. lunch talk Wed. Nov 7th in the Chelsea Center to hear from Alum Mark Shearman. He has developed many notable complexes in the St. Louis area, including the Boulevard across from the Galleria. Come sign up with Ms. Miller in the Chelsea Center today!

 

It’s time for the Webster Challenge College Bus Tour.  This year we will be traveling with Kirkwood High School to Washington D.C. March 14th -20th to visit colleges and universities along with visiting historical sites. If you would like more information regarding this college bus tour, please stop by office 157. Please know that space is limited.

 

Submissions for the First Branch Article of 2018, Webster Groves High School literary magazine, are all due on November 10th. Submission boxes will be in the art hallway, the library and in room 214 or you can give any of your work to Mr. Leftridge, Patrick Lee, Ainsley Stewart, Christian Ragain, or Karis Robinson. Submit any kind of writing including short stories, plays, poems and more.

 

Please help the French National Honor Society’s drive for a local women’s shelter. In World Language classrooms, we are collecting Mugs, Hot Cocoa/Tea, Ear Buds, Jewelry, Gloves & Socks, Gift Cards ($5-$15), and other small holiday gifts, so that victims of abuse can still give holiday presents to their children. The collection runs through November 9. See Mr. Stein with any questions and thank you.

 

Students just a reminder that as the weather gets colder that hoods are to be removed when you enter the building.  There is not a time when hoods can be worn in the building.  The removal of the hood is important to school safety.  If hoods are not removed, consequences will follow. 

 

Volunteers Needed -  The Rock Hill Library is very much in need of tutors Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 pm and also for special events like Halloween and Trivia night.  Please see Mrs. Winkelmann in Office 157 for contact information.

 

SENIORS

Attention seniors: Senior line dance practice will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school in Roberts Gym at 7:30 and after school in the cafeteria at 2:45. You must attend five practices to participate.

 

CLUB / STUCO MEETINGS

MONDAY

- Video Game Club meets on Monday’s in room 395 from 2:45-4:00.

 

TUESDAY

- Pep Club meets on Tuesdays, 7:25 a.m., in room 276.

- The Vegetarian and Vegan Club meets every Tuesday at 7:30am in room 380.

- Art club will meet Tuesdays from 2:35-4pm in room 190.

- Scholar Bowl practice Tuesday afternoon starting at 2:45 in room 200 Chelsea Center.

 

WEDNESDAY

- Chess Club meets on Wednesday after school in room 356.

- Student Council meets every other Wednesday before and after school in the PV Commons, (next meeting is November 14). 

- Student Council class meetings take place every other Wednesday after school @ 2:45pm (next meeting is November 7 – see above):

Freshmen meet in the Guidance Center (Verstraete’s office)

Sophomores meet in room 251 (Rutz’s room)

Juniors meet in 217 (Pott’s room)

Seniors meet in FACS room (Maedge’s room)

 

THURSDAY

- History Club will meets every Thursday morning at 7:25 in Chelsea Center room 200.  

- Anime Club meets every Thursday after school until 3:30pm in the PD Room by Jr Entrance.

- Scholar Bowl practice Thursday afternoon starting at 2:45 in room 200 Chelsea Center.

  

FRIDAY

- Tea Club and First Friday will be held this Friday, November 9th. (Tea club meets Friday morning in 272.  All are welcome.)

Boys Swim will compete in the MSHSAA State Meet @ St. Peters Rec Plex.

 

SATURDAY’S ATHLETIC EVENTS:

Boys Varsity Soccer MSHSAA Class 3 Quarterfinal Game vs. Farmington, 2:00 on Selma Field. Admission is $7.00

 

YESTERDAY’S REPORTED RESULTS:

Congratulations to our Boys Varsity Soccer team. They defeated Priory in PKs in the MSHSAA Sectional Game and advance to the Class 3 State Quarterfinal this Saturday on Selma Field!

 

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
