In the fall of 2019 two WGHS juniors (current sophomores) will serve as student advisors to the district Board of Education. The purpose of having students serve in this capacity is to help ensure the “student voice” is present when the Board of Education and district administration are in discussions or making decisions which will ultimately affect students.

In their role as advisors to the Board, students would be expected to:

- Consistently attend board meetings (ideally one at each meeting)

- Review board materials in advance of board meetings

- Meet on occasion with Dr. Simpson and Dr. Irvin

- Represent the voice of students, not exclusively themselves, on matters related to the high school and / or school district.

- Contribute to meetings including presenting

If interested, please submit a one to two-page essay which includes your interest in the role, skills or attributes you possess that would bring value to the board, and any applicable experiences you’ve had leading and/or representing others.

Essays are due to Dr. Simpson or Dr. Irvin by the weekend.

If you have any questions regarding the role of the student advisor or the application process, please contact Dr. Simpson at Simpson.john@wgcloud.org or a current student advisor, Jessica Peterson at jp070201@wgcloud.org  or Patrick Lee at pl061102@wgcloud.org.
