From the District Jan. 8, 2021
New Elementary Boundary Lines
New boundary lines, adopted by the Board of Education last year, will take effect beginning in August. The new boundaries will alleviate overcrowding in elementary schools and establish an attendance zone for Dr. Henry Givens Jr. Elementary. To ensure proper staffing and resources at the elementary schools, the district needs to know how many families will choose to move their children in kindergarten through fourth grade or remain in their current schools when the new school year starts.

If you live at an address that has been rezoned for a new elementary school in 2021-22, please complete the elementary school choice form emailed to you earlier this week. If you believe your residence was rezoned but didn't receive a form, please email wgsd2122@wgmail.org .
Kindergarten Information Night
Do you have an incoming kindergarten student for the 2021-2022 school year? Our elementary schools will host a Kindergarten Information Night at 6 p.m. on Feb. 10 during which you can learn more about the school and enrollment process. More details to come.
Families with children who will be attending kindergarten in the fall are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible after Feb. 10 so the district can plan class assignments and allocate resources.
WGSD COVID-19 Information
For information on local COVID-19 data, see the district’s dashboard for students and staff here https://mo02202299.schoolwires.net/Page/2330
Help Us Keep Our Schools Safe and Healthy
Please help us keep our schools safe and healthy by screening your children daily before they leave for school for fever (greater than 100.4), ), congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, sore throat, headaches and body aches as well as the high risk symptoms of cough, difficulty breathing and loss of taste/smell. In addition, please keep your children home from school if anyone else in your home is symptomatic or waiting for test results.
Please continue to utilize the school nurse hotline (314-918-4693) to report COVID-19 related illnesses and exposures.
Staff Anti-Bias Anti-Racist Training
With leadership from Dr. Shane Williamson, the district’s diversity, equity and inclusion director, certified staff will have completed at least nine hours of anti-bias anti-racist (ABAR) training by Feb. 12 and administrative staff will complete a session the same day. Central office administration and the Board of Education will receive training Jan. 9.
Use of Moss Field and Track
For the safety of students and staff, Moss Field and the track are closed during the school day. While we understand community members’ interest in walking or jogging on the track, children use the property for physical education and other activities throughout the day. Safety protocols having to do with COVID-19 don’t permit visitors to school property when school is in session and WGSD also mandates masks and social distancing rules for students and staff, indoors and out. In addition, for the security reasons, WGSD requires background checks of individuals on school property during school hours, which would be impossible to do on the field and track.
Please note that these facilities are open to the public both before and after school. We ask for your assistance in maintaining safety and security for our students.
Please Return Library Books; Fines Suspended
Do you have school library books that are overdue? Currently school libraries are missing many books districtwide. We are asking that you please return any books that your student has checked out as soon as possible, when school resumes in January. You can drop off books at your students' home schools anytime during regular school hours.
WGSD will suspend library fines through the end of January.
Free Meals at School and For Pick-Up
Webster Groves School District will have free meal pick up at Webster Groves High School next to Roberts Gym this semester, as well as free meals for students who are here for in-person learning. Meals are available for any child 0 – 18 years of age. Meals can be picked up Monday-Friday from 10:45 to 12:00pm. All meals will include that day’s lunch and breakfast for the next day.
In addition to meal pick up, you can opt for free meal delivery, where you will receive that day’s lunch and breakfast for the next day. If you opt for delivery of your meals, you will be registered to receive meals Monday thru Friday until you contact the Food and Nutrition office to cancel your deliveries.
Please complete the survey only if you plan on picking up or registering for delivery of a meal. The survey results help us to plan accordingly for meal preparation and in order to reduce any possible food waste. You have the option on the form to select certain days for pick up or delivery based upon your students’ meal choices. You can find the survey form here: https://forms.gle/D8jwiM8dKfLDSVGS7.
Strict protocols are in place to assure the safest environments possible as the district continues feeding students. If you have questions, please email pelant.nancy@wgmail.org.
We ask for the safety of our staff and students that a face mask be worn during meal pick up.
